What I’ve realized is that the files I’m working with (DNG, RAW, EXR, TIFF, etc.)which are primarily large 14-16bit files, davinci’s QuickTime decoder is not able to process this It crashes with large file size when QTdecoder-ram gets full. (32Bit memory limit of QTDecoder at 3.2GB

I’m not entirely sure if this is 100% because of 2 reasons.

1) Not everyone who is experiencing this problem is working with large file sizes.

2) I did a debugg(broke) RESOLVE and what it revealed to me was an issue with MSVCR100.DLL. Which is part of “Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update”

SO IF YOU ARE A PC USER, TRY THIS….
Please go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26999
download it and install it and restart COMP and start DAVINCI
This may fix your problem. Oddly It did for me, well at first it did I was finally able to go into Resolve and select footages I wasn’t able to before which was interesting but then started to see the same crap again after a few restarts of Davinci.

Please try these methods and see what results you get. Especially if you are someone who uses MagicLanter which produce large files.
